A favourite SAS gig would have to be the first one that Roy Wood came to, which was one we did for the British Heart and Lung Foundation in the dinosaur room at the Natural History Museum.

Roy sauntered on stage, asked if anyone had an amp he could use and, having plugged in and cranked up, simply turned round and launched into ‘California Man’. That turn switched him from a bumbling Brummie to a seat-slashing rocker. The transformation was instant and utterly comprehensive. The place went absolutely nuts. It was an electric and unforgettable moment for everyone there.
