The SAS Band is the most fun you can have in a band and the bonus is …. we all like each other a bit too.
Steve Stroud
Steve was born at an early age in Rotherhithe, South London and now lives in the village of Ightham, near Sevenoaks. He is married to TV presenter Cheryl Baker and has twin daughters, Natalie and Kyla, aged 13.

Steve joined Cliff Richard’s band in 1989 after having worked with The Hollies for eight years and Eric Burdon. One of his first major shows with Cliff was at Wembley Stadium, which can only be described as one of his best ever.

Steve also works with The SAS BAND – a band made up of the UK’s finest musicians. His work with The SAS BAND has lead him to play with such artists as Paul Young, Tony Hadley, Madeline Bell, Fish, Tom Robinson, Kiki Dee, Chris Thompson, Roger Taylor, Steve Lukather … the list goes on.

Steve’s finest moment with The SAS BAND was to play for Chaka Khan for the VH1 Summer TV Special, as she is without a doubt his favourite female vocalist, apart from his wife, of course! (written by his wife.)

In 2003, The SAS BAND were asked to back all of the artists for the Nelson Mandela “46664” Concert in Cape Town, to promote Aids awareness. Steve and the band were deeply honoured by this request, which culminated in their working with Queen, Annie Lennox, Bono and The Edge, Jimmy Cliff, Anastacia, Bob Geldof, The Soweto Choir, Johnny Clegg and many more. The concert was broadcast globally to millions and raised much-needed funds to fight the disease.

And let’s not forget The World Famous Redsox, consisting of Spike Edney, Jamie Moses, Johnny Marter and Steve. The four of them work when everyone else isn’t. The Redsox have played at some of the highest-profile gigs imaginable. We can’t give you names, otherwise Steve will have to kill you. Suffice to say, The Redsox are a fusion of superb talent and fun. In Spike’s own words, “Nobody has more fun than we do!”

Apart from his daughters, Steve has another ‘baby’. A few years ago, he saw the ‘70s band Earth, Wind
